Desert Springs

A resort with everything you need

#strategy #digital transformation #website #infrastructure #architecture

Desert Springs Resort, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course is located in Cuevas del Almanzora and Vera, the Almeria region of Andalucía, south-east Spain. Desert Springs’ website was dated and struggled to attract a new audience. Their facilities were endless and surroundings beautiful.

Multivitamin told the story of sun drenched family holidays and long golf weekends to attract holiday makers and prospective property buyers through carefully curated user journeys and subtle use of motion throughout.

Process

As a full digital transformation project we needed to understand the entire business and operations. We took a human centered design approach with internal employees to understand exactly what functions each team mamber had to perform. This spanned land sales, property sales, holiday rentals, sports booking facilities, golf tee of times, pro shop sales and PoS, restaurant booking and more. This required a year of research and collaboration to truly understand the technical plumbing. On top of this we looked at the top of the funnel in order to be able to feed traffic which was based on design theory as with any Multivitamin project.

"Understanding the brief it was clear there was a need to deliver a digital experience that matched the reality of being at Desert Springs."

The Desert Springs design theory was based on bringing the experience to the user. Reaching beyond the screen and taking them closer to the actual product or service.

Experiential: This included us using first person photography combines with parallax movement on images so that the environment moves based on the users scroll, tilt or mouse movement.

Relaxing: Desert Springs is a relaxing place to be. We used a lot of space and subtle animations and transitions to make the browsing experience relaxing as if they were in the actual resort.

"From food & beverage, to the accommodation and golf teams - each department's use case was considered to ensure a seamless experience for guests and team members alike."
